The Bird’s Eye View Series is an exploration in visual cartography. The perpendicular view of a drone at selected portraitures of nature and the urban fabric provides an abstract non-human perspective at the effects of civilization. A delicate dialogue between still-life features and moving elements enables the observer to dynamically gauge the impact of natural and man-made realms. The series aims to capture the beauty, hope and the confidence in the relationship between the human condition and the natural habitat. The small sea port depicted in “Lake” is a familiar place often visited by the artist. The revisit from a Bird’s Eye point of view activates the visible spectrum of water as an imager carrier and unveils the rich topography under the water previously hidden to the naked eye.
Cyril Mugglin (*1990) lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. His recent art work series "Bird’s Eye View Series" focuses on vertical aerial filming.
