A series of six images that uses a GAN trained on a dataset of images scraped from WikiArt to create new synthetic forms based on the cumulative history of painting styles from antiquity through to modernism. Sometimes abstract and sometimes figurative, the necessarily impartial nature of the algorithm gives way to intense and emotionally expressive works, a synthesis of the cumulative conceptual and emotional associations of the artists in the dataset. With parameters already tweaked by the artist, these high-quality PNG files could easily be printed to A3/A2 or displayed as desktop wallpapers. Purchase includes an uncompressed super high resolution PNG file (4096x4096) to be used for printing and display in online or offline realities.
