The VOICE GEMS project is a vibrant, unprecedented meditation highlighting the most remarkable, influential, and critically endangered voices on earth to generate digital gemstones and physical sculptures. The VOICE GEMS aims to become the world's leading curated vocal archive, capturing vocal moments and expressions to generate precious digital objects. The colours and structure of the gemstones are generated in real-time from gifted voice data and recordings. A one-of-a-kind voice piece capturing the liminal space between human connection and the vast anonymity of the internet.
Synthetic Voice Gems are a VOICE GEMS collection synthesised from series of A.I. generative voices - the artificial voices used to produce the pieces are generated from a data set of 100 anonymous voices gifted to the project. The ethereal tone produced by an augmented human and machine duet. Singing phrases that have never been expressed by a human being, preserved as precious digital object.
A selection of three VOICE GEMS, curated by Georg Bak, are presented at the elementum.art NFT Gallery at the Zurich Airport, The Circle 18 in Zurich (Switzerland). On view from 28 September until 26 October, 2022.
