Inspired by Russian Matryoshka dolls, that represent a chain of female matriarchs carrying on a family legacy, the emojified character in this work wears sleeping goggles with an image of Louise Bourgeois' eyes imprinted on them, speaking to artistic lineages that can be carried on from physical to virtual spaces. «Russion Dolls» is part of "The Pattern Recognition: Dream Goggles" project and was especially produced for elementum.art. In each of the three moving image works a 3D generated character wears a pair of goggles, either sleeping goggles or VR headsets. From physical to artificial, from dreams to virtual experiences, we recognize, in altered states of immersion, the patterns that occur throughout art, life and the cosmos, at micro and macrocosmic scales.
